Nancy M. Palermo, Esq.
Nancy joined Garrison & Sisson as an attorney recruiting consultant in 1999 and became a partner in 2006. She currently serves as the firm's Managing Partner. As co-head of Garrison & Sisson's In-House Division, she devotes a significant amount of her time to recruiting attorney candidates (at all levels and practice specialties) for positions within corporate legal departments in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia. She also handles retained and contingent partner level search placement on behalf of AMLAW top 200 and boutique law firms.
Over the past 12 years, Nancy has built and fostered long-term and trusting relationships with leading in-house and law firm clients. Having worked with thousands of attorneys in this market and drawing on years of institutional knowledge, Nancy provides attorneys with candid perspective, guidance, and counsel on their most important career decisions. Her practice is almost exclusively referral-based, due largely to her uncanny ability to quickly and efficiently help her candidates zero in on the most appropriate opportunities given their experience and goals.
Nancy has participated in panel presentations to bar association and specialty groups, the Association of Corporate Counsel, and law school audiences on topics including interviewing techniques and effective resume drafting, current legal market and compensation trends, and how to obtain an in-house legal position.
Nancy is a 1997 graduate of Catholic University, Columbus School of Law, where she served as Co-Chair for the National Conference of Law Reviews and Senior Associate Editor for the Journal of Contemporary Health Law & Policy. In 2007, she was appointed to her law school's Board of Visitors and serves as Chairperson of the Board's Career and Professional Development Committee. Nancy received her B.A. from the University of Richmond in 1989 with departmental honors. Currently, she is a member of the Alumni Recruitment Committee and serves as a Class Agent.
Prior to her career in legal recruiting, Nancy worked as corporate counsel to an environmental services corporation in Maryland, where she advised corporate management on acquisitions and franchise development matters and supervised outside counsel. She also gained private practice experience as a litigation associate with a Maryland law firm. In addition to her legal background, Nancy possesses five years of business management experience serving as a marketing and sales executive for two international manufacturing and consumer product companies in New York City.
